Professor Paul R. Geisler, EdD, ATC, the Director of the Athletic Training education program in the DESS recently traveled to Maastricht University, in The Netherlands to participate in the 2018 Medical/Healthcare Assessment Course, put on by the European Board of Medical Assessors (EBMA).

Conducted by the faculty of the School of Health Professions Education at Maastricht University and the EBMA, and led by imminent medical education scholar and assessment expert, Professor Cees van der Vleuten, the 5 day course covered evidence-based approaches to programmatic assessment, effective feedback, curricular mapping, item writing and psychometrics germane to health professions and medical education. Dr. Geisler was joined by other medical/health educators from the Medical University of Exeter, UK, The Medical University of Lodz, Poland, The University of Rotterdam, The Netherlands, and a soon to be built medical university in Bangkok, Thailand.
