The August Orientation Planning Committee is excited to share revised 2019 orientation dates.

Move-in day will be Wednesday, August 21, with orientation extending from August 21 through Tuesday, August 27. Orientation will begin the late afternoon/evening of August 21st. The first day of classes will be Wednesday, August 28.

The Senior Leadership Team has approved the August Orientation Planning Committee’s (AOPC’s) recommendation to extend orientation to seven days (including move-in day). This will optimize students’ orientation experience and increase families’ access to local lodging and restaurants.

Budget

This change in the orientation dates is expected to have an impact on the scheduling and cost of staff training programs, start-of-term meetings, and other significant endeavors. Because we have not yet finalized some of the decisions necessary to determine what adjustments will need to be made to budgets or room reservations, you are asked to submit the same operating budget requests for these items as last year. We will share updated information in the near future regarding a process for review and approval of budget requests.

Room reservations

Room reservations for the August orientation dates are on hold because orientation programs will need to have priority scheduling during that time. Reservation requests for events during those dates may be submitted, but no reservations will be granted until all of the August orientation programs have been scheduled.

Questions?

AOPC’s timeline and membership as well as meeting minutes are available on the website.

Thank you for your partnership and flexibility in making this adjustment to better serve our students. If you have any questions or feedback, please contact any AOPC member.
