Did you know the 2018 midterm elections are just four weeks away? Did you know the deadline to register to vote in NY is this Friday, October 12th? Do you know where to vote, and who will be on the ballot? Ithaca College and the Center for Civic Engagement have a number of resources to answer these and other voting questions. Ithaca College voter registration and education is a non-partisan effort to encourage our community members to register to vote, as well as to educate voters on local and national elections. A team of IC "Civic Associates" will be tabling in the campus center lobby on the following dates to help you register, obtain absentee ballots, and answer your voting questions: 10/10, 10/12, 10/16, 10/17, 10/23, 10/25, 10/31, 11/2, and 11/6. Please visit the IC voting page and read more about our efforts below. The Center for Civic Engagement is excited to announce that thanks to our partnership with The Andrew Goodman Foundation, a new digital voting resource called my.VoteEverywhere is now available to the IC community! Since 2014, The Andrew Goodman Foundation has been working with colleges and universities around the country through its Vote Everywhere program to make young voices and votes a powerful force in democracy. In addition to registering, educating, and engaging voters, they have launched my.VoteEverywhere.org, a one-stop-shop for all things voting. The platform makes it easy to check voter registration statuses, register to vote, request absentee ballots, find polling locations, learn about voter ID laws, and see who’s on the ballot, all in one convenient location. You can also now receive alerts about the upcoming election right to your phone! Text ‘IthacaC’ to 555-888 to receive reminders about voting, transportation to the polls, and other civic engagement opportunities. By signing up, you’ll stay up to date on the latest developments on campus, in the district, and in the state. Make sure your voice is heard this Election Day! Log on to my.VoteEverywhere.org now and get ready to vote. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to dharker@ithaca.edu or stop by the Center for Civic Engagement in PRW 072. |
