The Ithacan Named 2019 Columbia Scholastic Press Association Crown FinalistContributed by Michael Serino on 10/11/18 The Ithacan has been named one of nine national finalists for the Columbia Scholastic Press Association’s 2019 Crown Award. The Gold and Silver Crowns, the CSPA's highest honors, are awarded for overall excellence. The paper was judged based on both its print and online editions produced during the 2017–18 academic year (Aidan Quigley, editor-in-chief) The winners will be announced at the Spring National College Media Convention in New York City, March 6–9, 2019. The finalists for this year’s award number among the country's finest scholastic journalism publications, including the Ball State Daily, Indiana Daily Student, Iowa State Daily, Daily Pennsylvanian and the Los Angeles Loyolan. Founded in 1925, the CSPA is owned by Columbia University and operated as a program affiliated with its graduate school of journalism.
