Dr. Skott Jones, Associate Professor in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, was recently asked to serve as Guest Editor of an upcoming issue of Education Sciences focusing on educating individuals with autism spectrum disorders.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is considered one of the fastest growing developmental disabilities, with an estimated incidence of 1 in 59 children (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2018). It is therefore likely that most educators will work with students with ASD at some point during their career. From general education teachers to specialists such as speech–language pathologists, individuals with ASD often require a broad range of services from many professionals in the areas of social interaction, communication, and behavior. In light of recent increases in funded initiatives devoted to ASD research, along with increasing media attention, the main purpose of this Special Issue is to disseminate new work regarding the assessment and treatment of children with autism spectrum disorders from a variety of disciplines, including general education, special education, physical therapy, occupational therapy, recreational therapy, speech–language pathology, and psychology. Interprofessional collaborations are particularly welcome. Education Sciences is an international peer-reviewed journal published quarterly online by MDPI.
