National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) InformationContributed by Stephanie St. John on 11/04/18 As part of Ithaca College’s commitment to undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative activity, support will be provided for 16 student scholars at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) to be held April 10-13, 2019 at Kennesaw State University. Transportation, hotel accommodations and registration for the conference will be paid by the College. A $300 refundable deposit in cash or check may be requested for all selected participants in order to reserve your flight. Who can apply? Any undergraduate student in any program can apply to present their work. Virtually every discipline is represented at NCUR. Students can also present work that is created in an interdisciplinary posture. Please note, however, that support can typically only be given to one student for work that was prepared with multiple authors. Creative activity, such as musical or theatrical performance, or other work in the fine arts, is also welcome. To receive support from Ithaca College, students must be in good standing, have a 3.0 or higher GPA, and have a good judicial record. The College cannot provide support for presentation at NCUR to students who have received significant support for other conference presentations in AY2018/19. Students who think they’d like to present at NCUR should initiate a conversation with their faculty mentors as soon as they can. There will be special information sessions scheduled to help guide students through the application process: NCUR Information Sessions: Friday, November 9, 2018: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM – Ithaca Falls Room (Campus Center) 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM – Ithaca Falls Room (Campus Center) How does one apply? Students apply for NCUR by submitting an abstract that describes their work through the NCUR website: http://www.cur.org/what/events/students/ncur/2019/ Completed papers are not submitted for review. At the time the abstract is submitted the student must supply the name of a faculty member who mentored the submitted work, indicate the name of the discipline that best represents their work, and say whether they wish to present at a poster session or on an oral presentation panel. In addition, when asked for Coordinator Information, please use Stephanie St. John as the coordinator. The deadline for submitting abstracts is December 4, 2018. If you have any questions, please contact either Rasoul Rezvanian in the School of Business (rrezvanian@ithaca.edu) or Stephanie St. John in the Provost Office (sstjohn@ithaca.edu).
