During the 2018 Association of Outdoor Recreation and Education (AORE) and Wilderness Education Association (WEA) Joint National Conference, in Snowbird, Utah, Maggie Wise (Outdoor Adventure Leadership ’18) and Assistant Professor Patrick Lewis presented research on the female recreational mountain biking experience.

The purpose of the study was to address the gap in current literature regarding women specific outdoor recreation through examining female participation in recreational mountain biking.

Maggie’s role in the research has been analyzing previous research and compiling it into literature reviews. Together, Pat and Maggie examined the results and presented upon their findings at the AORE/WEA conference.

They are currently working on methods to refine their findings in hopes of submitting a paper for the women's specific edition of the Journal of Outdoor Recreation, Education, and Leadership (JOREL) to be printed in September of 2019.
