Patricia Zimmermann, Professor of Screen Studies and codirector of the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival, recently served on the jury for the 34th Annual International Documentary Association (IDA) Awards for short form series for online and emerging media. 

The short form series nominees included works produced by The Guardian (UK), Vice/HBO, New York Times Op Docs, La Huit Production (France), and Mel Films (USA). Mel Films was the winner.

Founded in 1982, the IDA is dedicated to increasing public awareness for the documentary genre and promoting nonfiction filmmakers. Through its programs and initiatives, it provides resources, creates awareness, and defends the rights and freedoms of documentary artists, activists, and journalists.  

The award ceremony, which recognizes long form, short form, series, and podcast documentary, was held in Los Angeles on December 8, 2018.
