Four Athletic Training Majors Win Professional ScholarshipsContributed by Paul Geisler on 12/20/18 Four senior athletic training majors from the Department of Exercise & Sport Sciences were awarded professional scholarships from the New York State Athletic Trainers' Association for their academic and professional accomplishments, and demonstrated leadership. Senior Athletic Training majors Natalie Sharpe (Batavia, NY), Cole Rinehart (York, PA), and Lusmer Quintana (Bronx, NY) were all recently recognized for their outstanding accomplishments at Ithaca College, in being notified that they have been awarded scholarships from the New York State Athletic Trainers' Association (NYSATA). All 3 students have excelled academically, professionally, & clinically in the Athletic Training education program at IC, taking part in rigorous research projects and numerous extracurricular events, as well. Cole, Natalie and Lucy can use their scholarship to help fund their last semester at IC, or their graduate education, upon graduation in May. A fourth senior AT major, Jennifer Gordon (Bristol, VT) was awarded a scholarship from the NYSATA to attend the 2019 iLead Student Leadership Conference, which is held in conjunction with the AT Educators' Conference in Dallas, TX, in Feb. 2019. Jen has been very active as a leader in the program and the profession, taking part in the AT Education's EquAT programming, student majors' club, and serving as the NY State delegate on the regional (EATA) student leadership board, in addition to being an outstanding student-clinician as well. Congratulations to all 4 students, their mentors and teachers, and their families as well for a job well done! |
