As announced in December, Ithaca College has received a gift from The Lissy Family Foundation to build a food pantry on campus to provide support to our students, faculty and staff.

This new food pantry will be located in the DeMotte Room on the lower level of the Campus Center.  We now need the assistance and generosity of everyone on campus to help us fill that space with food.  We anticipate our initial opening to be during the second week of February 2019.

To help us provide the most useful and most nutritious items to our community members in need, we are asking each department/school/unit for donations of specific items. Limited refrigeration and freezer space are available in the pantry, so please focus your donations on canned and non-perishable items.  We are developing a plan to allow for individual financial contributions, but to “kick off” the pantry we are looking for the items listed below.

Contributions are being sought as follows:

School of Business – fruit and vegetable juices, dried fruits (canned or shelf stable fruit cups are NOT needed at this time)

School of Communications – paper and cooking supplies (napkins, toilet tissue, foil, plastic wrap, etc.)

School of Music – Vegetables (canned), vegetable juice, diced tomatoes (pasta sauce is NOT needed at this time)

School of Humanities and Sciences – Spices, condiments, fats and oils

School of Health Sciences and Human Performance – reusable tote bags; boxed and shelf stable milk and milk powders

Student Affairs and Campus Life – personal care items, toiletries

Finance and Administration (including dining) - grains, crackers, tortillas, flour

Enrollment – grains, pastas, cereals

Advancement and Communications – soups, chilis and stews

Human Resources and General Counsels Office – nut butters and nuts

President’s and Provost’s Offices – Proteins, beans and canned meats and fish

If you would like to contribute but are unsure to which group you belong, you can bring donations that fit in any of the categories above to the Information Desk between today and February 8.

Thank you in advance for your support in “kicking off’ the campus food pantry.  All donations are appreciated, and you can expect further communications throughout the Spring Semester regarding the food pantry.

Thank you again
