The University of Texas press has released a second, revised, edition of Believing Women in Islam: Unreading Patriarchal Interpretations of the Qur'an, by Asma Barlas, professor of Politics, along with a monograph, A Brief Introduction to Believing Women in Islam, co-authored with David R. Finn. A Canadian philosopher who developed an interest in Barlas's liberatory hermeneutics of Islam's scripture, Finn undertook to "translate" it into simple language for non-academic readers.
