The momentum is building around Cortaca Jug 2019.  In fact, a lot of progress has already been made since we announced that Ithaca College will host the annual rivalry game against SUNY Cortland at MetLife Stadium just a few miles outside of New York City.

A steering committee led by Athletics Director Susan Bassett has been formed.  The other members of the steering committee serving from the college are Sean Reid, dean of the School of Business; Claudia Ayers, assistant vice president, engagement and constituent relations; and Bob Wagner, executive director, strategic communications.  Also serving on the steering committee are Marc Hudak ’90, chairman of the New York City chapter of the National Football Foundation; and Board of Trustees member David Meberg ’85.

There also is a full planning committee now in place comprised of some 25 individuals from across campus, including representatives from all five schools and the Student Governance Council.

“This is a bold and exciting move—a once in a lifetime opportunity, perhaps—so we’re looking for as many ways as possible to leverage and maximize the experience for the entire campus community, and for our alumni and friends,” said Bassett.

To that end, 16 functional teams have been established ranging from student and campus engagement, to experiential learning, to event program and operations, to public safety and transportation, to ticket sales.

More than 25,000 tickets have already been sold, with 10,000 more tickets set aside for members of the IC and Cortland campus communities (students, faculty and staff) that will go on sale in the fall.  So, we’re well on the way to breaking the Division III college football attendance record at our big game on Saturday, November 16.

If you have an idea, or a question, about how to take advantage of Cortaca Jug 2019, please reach out to a member of the steering committee: Susan Bassett, Sean Reid, Claudia Ayers, or Bob Wagner.

And if you’re passing by the campus store, drop in and check out the newly arrived Cortaca Jug 2019 long sleeve T-shirts available in two colors, blue and grey.
