Campus Community Invited to New York State Women’s Justice Agenda BriefingContributed by News on 02/27/19 Members of the campus community are invited to attend a special briefing by representatives of the New York State Council on Women and Girls as they present Governor Andrew Cuomo’s 2019 Women’s Justice Agenda. The briefing will be held on Thursday, March 7, at 3:00 p.m. in Emerson Suites. The agenda is a bold, comprehensive set of proposals to improve reproductive, economic, and social justice for all New York women. The presentation will focus on advancing equality and promoting opportunity for women and girls in the areas of health, safety, and the workplace. A question-and-answer session will follow. Established in 2017 by Governor Cuomo, the Council on Women and Girls seeks to recognize and advance the rights of women and girls within New York State, with attention to nine areas of impact: Education, Economic Opportunity, Workforce Equity, Leadership, Health Care, Child Care, Safety, STEM, and Intersectionality. The council includes leaders of New York State agencies, who will make sure that every policy enacted and each program created takes into account the experiences of women and girls; and a Steering Committee comprising leaders outside of state government from the areas of academia, advocacy, business, media, and the nonprofit space, who help inform and direct the council's work. In order to assist the college in managing the event, if you plan to attend we ask that you RSVP and submit your question in advance by filling out this brief form. We look forward to your participation in this opportunity to learn more about these important issues. |
