Dr. Donathan Brown, Associate Professor and former U.S. Fulbright Professor, is quoted in a recent Forbes article about President Donald J. Trump’s push to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border. In the article, Brown discusses the underpinning racial dimensions surrounding the debate over immigration reform, calling for refinement within the national discussion. “How we discuss, define and ultimately label those seeking entry into the United States from along the southern border continues to be a point of contention,” Brown tells Forbes. “Blanket statements that affix labels such as ‘terrorist,’ ‘drug dealer’ and ‘rapist,’ for example, only contribute to the ignorance proliferated by some elected officials, in an attempt to disassociate us from them.” Dr. Brown was joined by faculty colleagues at Yale University when contributing to this article. |
