Building a Creative Community for under-represented people in technology: Jaimee Lindvay - An Ed Tech Day Featured SessionContributed by Andrew Hogan on 02/28/19 Have you ever wondered what it takes to build a community? On Thursday, March 21st at 11 am in the Klingenstein Lounge join Jaimee S. Lindvay, founder and President of ADASpace as she shares her story in creating the Hacker/Maker Space organization. ADASpace fosters the creative exploration of DIY craft, technology, and design for women and transgender people who have been traditionally under-represented in technical fields. The organization provides a safe space for its members and their children to experiment, learn, and teach each other through organized workshops as well as access to equipment, space and materials. This is one of over 50 sessions that are part of our 29th annual Educational Technology Day at Ithaca College on Thursday, March 21st from 9 am - 3 pm in the Campus Center. No registration is required for members of the Ithaca College community. Complete information is available on the Ed Tech Day website: www.ithaca.edu/edtechday. Please watch for additional announcements about ways in which you can be a part of the day, and for details on many of the seminars and other featured events. Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact the Information Technology Ed Tech Day team at edtechday@ithaca.edu or (607) 274-7000. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible. |
