Ithaca College

Services will be held this weekend for Kelly Perkins, the Ithaca College first-year student who died in an automobile accident on Monday morning. Her parents, Debbie and Enoch, are both longtime Ithaca College employees, and Kelly was studying in the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance with the intention of becoming a physical education teacher.

Family and friends are invited to visit and share memories on Friday, March 8, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig Street, Newark Valley. A memorial service and celebration of Kelly’s life will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Newark Valley High School Auditorium. A dinner will follow in the Multipurpose Room.

Her family asks that everyone attending the celebration wear casual clothing—such as an athletic jersey, camp shirt, or college gear—in keeping with the kind of clothing she liked to wear and might see you wearing on a regular basis.

Memorial donations may be made in Kelly’s name to the Newark Valley Music Booster Club or the Newark Valley Athletic Booster Club, 68 Wilson Creek Rd., Newark Valley, NY 13811. In addition, a GoFundMe page has been set up to help Kelly’s family at this time. This is the only fundraising site authorized by the family.
