Join Hillel at Ithaca College on Tuesday, April 2nd at 7 PM in Textor 102 for a screening of the award winning film Big Sonia. Sonia’s teenage years were a blur of concentration camps and death marches. On liberation day, she was accidentally shot through the chest, yet again miraculously survived. Today, Sonia runs a tailor shop which was established by her late husband and continues to work even in her 80s. Societal issues this film will address include: ageism, inter-generation communication, and discrimination. Sonia is the ultimate survivor, a bridge between cultures and generations. Her story must never be forgotten. This film screening is sponsored by Littauer Foundation, and is a collaborative effort by Hillel at Ithaca College, the Ithaca College Library, and the Jewish Studies Department of Ithaca College. Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Austin Reid at areid1@ithaca.edu. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible. |
