Transitioning to a New College-wide Photo & Video DatabaseContributed by Jennifer King MacKenzie on 03/28/19 The Division of College Communications has been working for the past year to select and implement a new digital asset management (DAM) system for the college. At the end of the spring 2019 semester, we will have transitioned away from our current digital asset management system, Cumulus. All existing and future digital assets will be available only on the new system, Widen. Please note that once Widen is fully introduced in May, Cumulus will no longer be accessible. With the introduction of the new Widen DAM system approaching, the Division of College Communications would like to provide the campus community with some additional information about the new system: Search functionality and practical sharing capabilities are significantly enhanced in Widen. The new system will allow faculty and staff with Netpass IDs to access a variety of assets using portals, a customizable feature that Widen provides to make accessing assets easy. These portals will function as content microsites that the campus community will be able to access. They will be organized so that the Division of College Communications can share a variety of discipline-specific assets with our campus partners that can then be shared internally by our campus partners. We are excited to introduce Widen to the campus community in May. Please stay tuned for more specific information regarding the transition timeline in future communications. If you have any questions, please contact assets@ithaca.edu.
