Health Department Seeks Assistance with Dog Bite on Ithaca College CampusContributed by Crystal Young on 04/02/19 The Tompkins County Health Department and the Ithaca College Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management are attempting to identify a dog that bit a patrol officer on the campus near Boothroyd Hall. The incident occurred on Monday, April 1, 2019, around 3:00 PM when the officer was responding to a complaint. The dog is described as a long haired Husky type dog, mostly grey and black with a small amount of orange fur. The dog was wearing a collar with a tag that said “Dakota.” The Health Department seeks to verify vaccination status and health of the dog over a ten-day period. If the dog can be located and is observed to be healthy by the Department, the risk of rabies infection can be ruled out and rabies post-exposure treatment for the person who was bitten will not be necessary. |
