ICC Program Review and Next Steps The ICC Program Review Committee has finalized its report after receiving feedback on the draft recommendations from the campus community. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members and co-chairs of the ICC Program Review for their thorough and thoughtful work over the past year as they gathered information about the current state of the ICC and developed recommendations for how we might move forward with the program. Their work over the past nine months has relied on engaging the campus community in multiple ways, including;
Now that the program review committee is nearing completion of its assigned task: reviewing the existing ICC program and suggesting ways to improve the program moving forward, several people have inquired about how we will move forward in considering the recommendations proposed by the committee. Initial steps are those that all program reviews follow: the Academic Policies Committee (APC) will review the report and recommendations and the Provost will meet briefly with the program director and program review committee chairs to discuss the report. Initial conversations about prioritizing recommendations and possible curricular proposals that might move forward will start this spring, led by the Office of the Provost. Those conversations will continue into the fall as faculty develop proposals to address those recommendations they wish to move forward. Any such proposals would then go to CCR for consideration. Under its currently published procedures for amending the ICC, CCR reviews a proposal for amendment, seeks input from the school curriculum committees and other relevant constituents as needed, determines whether the change merits an all-college faculty vote, and, once a proposal is approved, moves it forward to APC for its review. From there, any proposal would follow existing APC processes for curricular approval. Given the nature of the curricular process, the earliest timetable for making any curricular changes would be for the fall 2020 semester. |
