Graduates - Changes to Microsoft Office 365 Applications and OneDriveContributed by Lisa Efing-Guida on 05/02/19 If you are graduating this May, there are changes to your Microsoft Office 365 account, including OneDrive, that you need to be aware of. These changes will take place within 30 days from commencement (May 19, 2019). Under our license agreement with Microsoft, once you graduate the type of license that is assigned to your account changes from a "student" license to an "alumni" license. Under the alumni license you will no longer have access to the full Microsoft Office 365 subscription, however your IC email account will remain indefinitely. How does this impact me? Outlook (Email): Students will be able to keep and use their IC email account, including all of the contents within it, for as long as you like. This means that you will be able to send and receive email from your @ithaca.edu account. OneDrive: If you are storing files in OneDrive you will no longer have access to these files when your license type changes to "alumni". Prior to graduation, you should transfer all of your files from your Ithaca College OneDrive account to a free Microsoft Account or an Office 365 Personal subscription. You may also use other media such as personal cloud storage, a physical hard drive, or flash drive. How do I migrate my files? Office 365 Applications: Your Office 365 subscription through IC will end within 30 days from commencement. If you wish to continue using Office Online applications (Word Online, Excel Online, PowerPoint Online, OneDrive, etc.) you can sign up for a free Microsoft account. This account comes with 5 GB of free storage in OneDrive. If you wish to use the installed desktop applications of Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) you will need to obtain a new subscription for Office 365 Personal. You will first need to uninstall Office 365 ProPlus (your Ithaca College subscription). Windows | Mac How do I obtain a free Microsoft account? How do I obtain an Office 365 Personal subscription?
