To All Ithaca College Students, We would like to invite you to our traditional celebration for the last Friday of classes—IC Kicks Back. As always, this will be a fun and relaxing experience where you and your friends can create great memories. Besides the free food and a concert presented by the Bureau of Concerts, you can expect a variety of entertaining activities courtesy of several IC student organizations. IC Kicks Back will be held on Friday, May 3, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Campus Center Quad. There will also be an IC Community Brunch on Saturday, May 4, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Terrace Dining Hall. Both of these events are open to the entire Ithaca College community, so don’t miss out on these fabulous—and free—traditions! Remember to bring your ID card for entry. We also want to remind all Ithaca College students to act responsibly and be safe during these last days of classes, finals week, and senior week. In particular, for those students who live off campus in the Ithaca community or who attend gatherings off campus, we ask for you to be considerate of our South Hill neighbors by keeping down noise levels and avoiding any behavior that might result in damage to their property. As in years past, the Ithaca Police Department and Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office plan to vigorously enforce all local laws, including those related to excessive noise, underage drinking, and open containers of alcohol. If you are an off-campus resident, you should know that party hosts bear the greatest responsibility and are subject to the most significant consequences, even if the party takes place outdoors. A door hanger with this information was distributed to student residences last week. You can also pick up a copy of this informative door hanger at the Ithaca College Office of Public Safety. Visit these websites for details about noise ordinances in the City and Town of Ithaca: http://www.ecode360.com/8391225 (City) https://ecode360.com/8659281 (Town) In addition, please be aware that the New York State 911 Good Samaritan Law allows people to call 911 without fear of arrest if they are having a drug or alcohol overdose that requires emergency medical care, or if they witness someone else overdosing. The college’s own Medical Amnesty Policy offers similar protections on campus, and is intended to encourage students to seek medical assistance related to drug or alcohol use without worrying about college judicial consequences. We sincerely hope that you will not hesitate to seek care for yourself or others if necessary. Representatives from the South Hill neighborhood; city and town government; local law enforcement agencies; Ithaca College faculty, staff, and administration; and the Student Governance Council encourage you to be safe and make good decisions. Best wishes for a safe and productive end of the semester. Sincerely, Bonnie Solt Prunty Alyse Harris |
