David Turkon (anthropology) participates in forum on food security among college students in South AfricaContributed by Michael Malpass on 06/20/19 David Turkon (anthropology) presented at the University of the Free State (UFS) Strategic Conversation on Food Security on May 30, 2019 in Bloemfontein, South Africa. David's presentation, Food, Nutrition, Community Dynamics and Cultural Competency, highlighted the importance of identifying and servicing culturally preferred dietary preferences and needs of different populations. The workshop was aimed at developing strategies for providing food assistance and for improving nutrition among the diverse student population at UFS, and with aims toward defining best practices that can be employed at colleges and universities throughout South Africa. |
