The Teaching & Learning with Technology team is excited to announce an upgrade to Sakai, Ithaca College’s learning management system (LMS), which offers new features, a more modern look and feel with improved navigation, and improved functionality for faculty and students. 

 Highlighted updates to Sakai 12 for Students include: 

  • Improved responsive design and better performance on mobile devices 
  • Updates to Assignments tool including a direct email to students with instructor feedback 
  • Improved modern interface for the Chat tool 
  • Updates to Test and Quizzes include an “auto submit” feature 
  • Multiple accessibility improvements 

Highlighted updates to Sakai 12 for Instructors include: 

  • Site owners can delete their own Sakai course or project sites 
  • Improved Zoom integration for scheduling class meetings and guest speaker events 
  • Updated Personal Capture through media.ithaca.edu 
  • Improved iRubric integration with additional features

Faculty are invited to participate in upcoming training sessions and one-on-one consultations hosted by the TLT team. Also, the Instructional Media Lab (IML – Job 102) will be open for limited drop-in support beginning on Monday, August 19 and full support beginning on Wednesday, August 28. The IML hours are Monday – Thursday 9:00 am – 5:30 pm, and Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
