This fall, the Herbert Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University is presenting "how the light gets in," a Museum-wide exhibition of contemporary art about the movement of people across the globe, and the welcome cracks that develop in our notions of borders and nation states.

The exhibition brings together 58 artists and artist teams and collectives, ranging in age from their 20s to their 90s and representing 29 countries. Their work, which engages with themes of migration, immigration, displacement, and exile and includes drawing, photography, painting, sculpture, and video, will be installed throughout the Johnson Museum.

As part of the free opening reception on September 12, 5:00-7:00 pm, artist Aram Han Sifuentes will lead a banner-making activity as part of her installation in the exhibition, "Protest Banner Lending Library."
