CSCRE DISCUSSION SERIES PRESENTS A PANEL DISCUSSION AND A 20-YEAR CSCRE DS CELEBRATION ON FRI., 10/11/19, AT 4 PM IN EMERSON SUITE BContributed by Penny Bogardus on 10/10/19 Please join us for the formal celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Center for the Study of Culture Race and Ethnicity CSCRE. This event will be part reception, part panel discussion and all celebration. The reception will begin at 4:00 pm with a panel to follow at 4:30 pm. The reception will resume after the panel ends around 5:30 pm. Joining us to speak about the origins of the CSCRE will be Dr. Asma Barlas, Professor, Politics and Dr. Tanya Saunders, Assistant Provost for International Programs and Extended Studies. Cedrick Michael Simmons ‘14; Kristy Zhen ‘13; and Mars Booker '20 will discuss the centrality of student struggle in building and maintaining spaces like the CSCRE. To help with the celebrations we will offer hot appetizers, coffee, water and tea as well as a cash bar with beer, wine and mocktails. Participants will also have the opportunity to share their thoughts about and experiences with the CSCRE and/or our four minors: African Diaspora Studies; Asian American Studies; Latinx Studies; and Native American and Indigenous Studies.
