The Park Center for Independent Media invites you to a conversation between Dr. Girish Shambu and Dr. Patricia R. Zimmermann to launch her new book, “Documentary Across Platforms: Reverse Engineering Media, Politics, and Place,” that highlights documentary’s role as a practice to think through how the world is organized and to imagine ways that it might be reorganized with actions, communities, and ideas.

Patricia R. Zimmermann is Professor of Screen Studies at Ithaca College. A cinema/media/new media historian and theorist, she specializes in documentary, emerging nonfiction forms, amateurism and participatory media, industry studies, and democratic potentials of communications.

Girish Shambu is an influential film blogger, scholar, and critic who edits Film Quarterly's online initiative, Quorum. He teaches sustainability at Canisius College in Buffalo.
