Enroll in RLST 10500 (01) Introduction to World Religions: Eastern and Indigenous!Contributed by Eric Steinschneider on 11/13/19 Enroll in RLST 10500 (01) Introduction to World Religions: Eastern and Indigenous! From shamans and witchcraft to yoga and zen, Americans have long been fascinated by the indigenous religious traditions of North America, Africa, and Asia. This course introduces students to the study of non-Abrahamic religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, and Native American traditions in a way that questions what we mean when we think and talk about them as “religion”. Special attention is paid to the manner in which these traditions have adapted themselves to changing social, intellectual, and political contexts, from ancient times to the present day. This course has two sections: Section 01 meets MWF from 9:00 to 9:50 a.m. Section 02 meets MWF from 11:00 to 11:50 a.m. We are currently attempting to fill seats in the 9:00 a.m. section. All interested students are encouraged to enroll! |
