 The Office of Residential Life and Judicial Affairs would like to share a brief update regarding the off-campus process.

Ithaca College recognizes the developmental value of a residency-based education and believes that residence hall living is a key component of a student's overall educational experience. For these reasons, and as noted in the policy, students are required to live on campus for their first-year, sophomore year, and junior years, unless they meet the criteria of the Residency Policy for an exemption or apply and receive approval from our office to move off-campus. This year we were able to approve 51% of the eligible applicants. The remaining individuals and groups not approved were placed on an off-campus release waitlist. 

We have students that have chosen to remain living on campus and students who received off-campus approval, we also have students that were not approved and are dissatisfied with the outcome of the process. For those students and their allies that have expressed their dissatisfaction with the process, please know that we have heard and understand your concerns. Moving forward, we are discussing ways to incorporate the feedback and make the process better. We will be communicating with the waitlist applicants on Friday, November 22, 2019, regarding the specific next steps we are taking and the potential actions they can take.
