Would you like to connect with colleagues around shared topics of interest? Have you wondered what a peer mentoring model is all about?

Consider joining a mentoring circle through the Women's Mentoring Network!

Mentoring circles are small groups - in this case, of women - who meet on their own schedule to discuss topics of interest and provide mutual support. The Women's Mentoring Network has a number of mentoring circles already underway and there are opportunities to form new circles.

If you would like to learn more about joining an existing mentoring circle or forming a new circle, please contact Julie Dorsey (jdorsey@ithaca.edu)

Existing topic-based circles include:

  • Balancing teaching and research
  • Single and solo moms
  • New professionals in higher education
  • New and expecting moms

Why mentoring circles?

  • Create a community of support that can more fully connect women in the workplace that can lead to greater sense of belonging and satisfaction
  • Build networks that are important for personal development and goal fulfillment
  • Learn from peers to develop skillsets important for workplace growth and success
  • Evidence supports the use of peer mentoring models, especially for women. A recent article found that a peer based mentoring model increases women's sense of empowerment
  • Read more about why mentoring circles are important
