Spots still open in Understanding Disability course!Contributed by Jessie Kanowitz Tonjes on 12/17/19 There are still spots open in the Recreation and Leisure Studies Department course: Understanding Disability! Looking for a great elective or class to learn some new things? Register for Understanding Disability in the RLS Department! Meets Thursday evenings from 6:50-9:30! Course description: Introduction to the wide spectrum of impairments, including cognitive disability, mental illness, physical disability and sensory impairment within home, school, community, and therapeutic settings. Course focuses on abilities, rights, characteristics, and needs of people with diverse abilities. Issues will be discussed in light of societal, cultural, and historical barriers. Self-advocacy, family perspectives, and current trends in educational and rehabilitative services are also considered. Please email jkanowitz@ithaca.edu with any questions!
