Shelter-in-Place Drill Monday Morning in Job Hall, 2nd FloorContributed by Elyse Nepa on 01/05/20 Ithaca College will hold a shelter-in-place drill for the second floor of Job Hall on the morning of Monday, January 6th. The second floor of Job Hall will be completely closed to the public from 10:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on that date. Any incoming phone calls to International Programs and Extended Studies, and the Gerontology Institute during that time will be forwarded to voicemail. Only the second floor of Job Hall will be involved in the drill. The rest of the building - including Information Technology and the service desk - and the rest of campus will be unaffected. The Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management is working with offices across campus to develop individualized emergency response plans, and the drill will provide an opportunity for those who work on the second floor of Job Hall to practice responding to an active-shooter type situation. The drill will not include any simulated attack, but rather will commence and conclude with an announcement to employees who work in the office. Posted notices will be placed at the entrances in advance of and during the drill, and Public Safety will be stationed in the area. Members of the campus community not participating do not need to take any action. If you have any questions about the drill, contact Bill Kerry, director and chief of the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management, at wkerry@ithaca.edu |
