Chrystyna Dail, Associate Professor of Theatre History, published the article, "Front Doors as National Borders: Immigrated Performances and Ukrainian Vertep" in Volume 72 of Theatre Annual: A Journal of Theatre and Performance in the Americas. Dail's essay explores how amateur Vertep performances by Ukrainian immigrants keep cultural traditions alive in the sanctity of their North American homes. Additionally, Dail introduces and theorizes the term 'immigrated performance' to conceptualize traditions that in transitioning from one culture to another preserve and affirm their culture of origin, while seeking to redefine cultural identity for their participants in the context of their new, adopted nation.
