Join Peace Action IC! The risk of war with Iran remains severe. At this dangerous time, with lives hanging in the balance, we need peace loving people taking to the streets in peaceful, nonviolent vigils and demonstrations to make sure our elected officials hear our voices. On Saturday, January 25, people across the globe will come together to oppose another war in the Middle East. The one in Ithaca will take place at 3PM at the Bernie Milton Pavilion. Join us, and then take a minute to contact your Representatives, and if they haven't already co-sponsored ask them to co-sponsor:
You can also call Senators Schumer and Gillibrand and make sure they plan on supporting Senator Kaine's Iran War Powers Resolution Legislation, currently S.J.Res.69. (They've both been co-sponsors of past versions, so you can thank them as well! This meet up is coordinated by Peace Action IC. Peace Action IC is a non-partisan student group dedicated to empowering student advocates and taking action on issues of peace and justice. Through education, grass-roots organizing, and action campaigns, we work to promote informed activism. With wars in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia threatening the welfare and security of millions of people, there is no better time to get involved. Please reach out to ctolve@ithaca.edu if you are interested in joining Peace Action. See you there! Any questions can be directed to Christopher Tolve at ctolve@ithaca.edu. |

on campus and in the greater community. All people of conscience should
condemn warmongering efforts — to protect not only the millions of
innocent people in nonthreatening-to-the-USA countries who are being
used as pawns and targets, but also US military personnel and civilians
who would likely be victims of retaliatory violence.
Loudly and in unison we should be saying NO to unprovoked invasions
being waged in our names, paid for with our tax dollars, whether on the
ground or from the air. The Iranian people should not have to live in fear of
military invasion on top of all the other things they have to endure.
Let’s look at recent history. Over and over we have seen that war hurts
people and helps only those who profiteer from it. There is way too much
violence in our own country. Let’s not export any more of it.
Witness Iraq, the erstwhile “cradle of western civilization,” which U.S.
imperialism and capitalist greed have left in shambles, destroying the
hopes and health of present and future generations in that once-proud and
-prospering country.
I salute and thank all who will stand up in peace and solidarity to condemn
and shame officials who mis-lead our country into causing more human
(and other species’j suffering.
