Update: Ithacan Website Wins First Place in Best of Show CompetitionContributed by Michael Serino on 01/28/20 The Ithacan has been informed that its website won First Place in the Best of Show competition at the Fall 2019 National College Media Convention in Washington, D.C. on Nov. 2. The website had been announced as the Second Place winner during the convention's award ceremony. The website also won the prestigious Associated Collegiate Press Online Pacemaker Award for 2019. Due to an ACP staff error, however, the website that was awarded First Place had been entered in the wrong category. Since the convention, the staff discovered the error and has officially recognized The Ithacan as the First Place winner. The First Place trophy, along with gift cards for a staff pizza party, are being sent to The Ithacan staff. “While not the same as receiving the trophy at the convention, ACP hopes this will at least allow the staff to celebrate,” Gary Lundgren, the competition coordinator, said in an email this week. The Associated Collegiate Press is the oldest and largest membership organization for student journalists in the country.
