The Ithacan has been named one of 10 national finalists for the Columbia Scholastic Press Association’s 2020 Crown Awards. The Gold and Silver Crowns, the CSPA’s highest honors, are awarded for overall excellence. The paper was judged based on both its print and online editons produced during the 2018-19 academic year (Grace Elletson, editor-in-chief).

The winners will be announced at the Spring National College Media Convention in New York City, March 11-14, 2020.

The finalists for this year’s award include the Ball State Daily News, the Indiana University Daily Student, the Iowa State Daily, the University of Oklahoma's OU Daily and the University of Pennsylvania’s Daily Pennsylvanian.

Founded in 1925, the CSPA is owned by Columbia University and operated as a program affiliated with the graduate school of journalism.
