Have you ever wondered what people do with mathematics in the "real world"? Do you know what origami has to do with interstellar space travel? Join us for IC Women in Math Day!

There are two events that are open to the public as part of the 3rd Annual IC Women in Math Day. All events are in Room 111 in the Park Center for Business and Sustainable Enterprise.

10:45-11:45: Saramoira Shields, Associate Director for the NASA/NY Space Consortium will present a session introducing the space-related applications of origami (with interactive activities!)

12:45-1:45: Career Panel
We have assembled a group of women who use mathematics in their careers in a diverse number of ways. Join us and ask any questions you have! The panel consists of:

  • Gauri Koljatkar, High School Math Teacher, IHS
  • Hadassah Mativetsky, Software Quality Engineer, Universal Instruments Corporation
  • Liana Nice, Associate Director of Breeding Sciences, Nature Source Improved Plants
  • Molly Noel, Ithaca College Math Major, Class of 2020
  • Melanie I. Stein, Dean and Professor of Mathematics, Ithaca College School of H&S

Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Megan Martinez at mmartinez@ithaca.edu or (607) 274-3355. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible.
