The Robert G. Boehmler Community Foundation Concert Series welcomes Cuarteto Latinoamericano on Friday, February 7 at 8:15 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall.

Cuarteto Latinoamericano is one of the world's most renowned string quartets and, for over thirty-five years, the leading proponent of Latin American music for the genre. Founded in Mexico in 1982, the Cuarteto has toured extensively throughout Europe, North and South America, Israel, China, Japan and New Zealand. They have premiered over a hundred works written for them, and they continue to introduce new and neglected composers to the genre.

On the program:

Quartet No. 5     Heitor Villa-Lobos (1887-1959)

Four for Tango     Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992)

La Calaca      Gabriela Ortiz (b. 1964)

String Quartet No. 14   "Death and the Maiden"     Franz Schubert (1797-1828)

The Cuarteto will also give a master class on Thursday, February 6 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall.

The concert and master class are both free and open to the public.

Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Erik Kibelsbeck at ekibelsbeck@ithaca.edu or (607) 274-3717. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible.
