Congratulations to the current and former members of the faculty who have been recognized by the Ithaca College Board of Trustees. At its February meetings, the board granted emeritus status to nine former faculty members and awarded promotions and tenure to 20 current faculty members. The following were named professor emeritus or emerita. This is an honorary title awarded after retirement to those who have made sustained contributions to Ithaca College and/or to their profession in teaching, scholarship and service. School of Health Sciences and Human Performance School of Humanities and Sciences Dan Briotta, associate professor of physics and astronomy, who retired in 2019. Bruce Thompson, associate professor of physics and astronomy who retired in 2018. School of Music Frank Campos, professor of music performance, who retired in 2018. Kim Dunnick, professor of music performance, who retired 2018. Steve Mauk, professor of music performance, who retired in 2019. Gordon Stout, professor of music performance, who retired in 2019. The following faculty members were awarded tenure and promoted from assistant to associate professor. Criteria for promotion to associate professor include: a sustained record of teaching excellence, evidence of significant scholarly or appropriate professional attainment, and evidence of service to the college and profession. Park School of Communications Department of Strategic Communication School of Health Sciences and Human Performance Department of Physical Therapy Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies School of Humanities and Sciences Department of Economics Department of Education Department of Mathematics Department of Sociology Katherine Cohen-Filipic, who earned her PhD and MSW from Virginia Commonwealth University and BA from Earlham College. Department of Writing School of Music Evis Sammoutis, who got his PhD from the University of York and BM from the University of Hull. Department of Performance Studies Vadim Serebryany, who earned his DMA and MMA from Yale University and an MM and BM from the Juilliard School. Marc Webster, who earned his MM from the Eastman School of Music and BM from Ithaca College. The following faculty member was awarded tenure and promoted from associate professor to professor. Criteria for promotion to professor include: evidence of a continued record of teaching excellence, evidence of significant scholarly or appropriate professional attainment, evidence of having attained regional or national stature in the discipline or distinguished academic leadership at the college, and evidence of significant service to the college and profession.
