Everyone who is living in the US on April 1 gets counted.  Everyone should be counted where they spend most of the year or where they live on April 1– which means that Ithaca College students should be counted here in Tompkins County.

The Census doesn't just count U.S. citizens so visiting scholars and international students should also be sure to complete the Census questionnaire.  No questions about citizenship are asked and all date is kept confidential at the individual level.

Your parents should not include you in their census report.

If you live off campus, in late March you will shortly be getting a postcard from the Census directing you to complete the census on-line.  You should designate one representative of your house or apartment to complete the form on behalf of all residents.

On-campus students, you will be receiving information from your RA or RD about how to complete the census.

You can see a sample copy of the Census questionnaire here

You can see a sample copy of the invitation to participate postcard here.

You can learn more about the census at this fantastic IC Library created Guide.
