Assistant Professor Eric Machan Howd (Department of Writing) recently spoke on music and spirituality for the Southern Cayuga Wider Parish's Lenten Speaker Series (Aurora, NY). As a long-time church music director and pipe organist (40+ years), Eric shared his thoughts on how his music connects to his spirituality. The talk was part lecture and part performance on piano. Also, Eric chose Second Wind Cottages (Newfield, NY) as his charity of choice for this talk; he helped raise money for this wonderful organization as part of this lecture. The event was covered by the Auburn Citizen (http://bit.ly/howdlenten). Eric is the Music Director and Organist for the Jacksonville Community Methodist Church (Jacksonville, NY). He has previously served in a similar role for Cornell United Religious Works, the Newark Valley United Church of Christ, the Freeville Methodist Church, and the King Ferry Presbyterian Church. |
