The Office of Student Engagement is working diligently to assist and support students involved in volunteer programs, leadership education, and student organizations during this period of remote learning. If you have any questions about the items below, please email OSE@ithaca.edu for clarification. Student Leadership Institute: All of the SLI workshops that were happening on campus in the last block of the year will be canceled. However, we will be offering a number of sessions in an an online format so that you could still attend remotely to get SLI credits. Sessions will begin on March 30 and run through May 1, with sessions being offered in all four tracks. A full list of the sessions will be available on IC Engage by the end of next week, and we will send a notice directly to every member of the SLI organization on IC Engage when they are published. Community Service: For those students wondering how they might assist communities in need during this crisis, we will be sharing information about ways that you can still be engaged as an active volunteer from the safety of your own home, or in other ways that maintain safety. This information will be shared on our website, and emailed to every one who is subscribed to the OSE volunteer listserv, which we invite you to join if you are not already a subscriber. Student Organizations: All student organization events that were scheduled to be held on campus are canceled for the remainder of the semester. We are currently working with the student leaders in recognized student organizations to help them move some programming online, and those groups will be advertising those events in the near future. We appreciate all of the good work these students are doing to provide an engaging experience for their peers in these unusual circumstances. Women Leaders Series: All WLS events for 2020 will be canceled. At least three of the online SLI workshops that will be offered focus on women’s leadership and our goal is that the Women of Distinction ceremony will be rescheduled for the fall.
Thank you for your patience as we navigate these challenging times. We look forward to seeing you virtually at the activities we will be providing during the next 6 weeks, and hope that these experiences can offer a bit of IC in your new remote learning world! |
