As Ithaca College students, faculty, and staff continue to learn, teach and work remotely having a well configured physical environment is just as essential as having the appropriate technology tools to function within this new temporary environment. We've published a resource to help you establish a comfortable home working environment. Working at a computer for hours each day using an improper workstation setup can cause awkward posture which can increase the risk for ergonomic related injuries. It is important to set up your home work environment as best you can to help reduce the potential for injuries and create a more conducive space for learning and working. To assist in establishing this type of home environment, a ‘Home Office Ergonomic Tips’ web page has been created that identifies several general guidelines that individuals should follow. Special thanks to Julie Dorsey, OTD, OTR/L, FAOTA, CEAS, Associate Professor, Occupational Therapy, for her help in making this page possible. This article is the first in a series we're calling IT@IC Remotely Thinking, consisting of ‘best practices and tips’ presented by the Information Technology department to enhance your remote IC teaching, learning and working experience.
