Register for PRIMATE CONSERVATION for fall 2020 - ICC WI and waive the prereqs!Contributed by Lisa Corewyn on 04/20/20 In this uncertain world, it is more important than ever to become more aware of our diminishing biodiversity. In ANTH 41100, learn about the threats to nonhuman primates and how we are trying to protect them. The course is ICC Writing Intensive, seminar style with readings, student-led discussions, and no exams! I will waive the prerequisites with a Workflow override request. Open to all interested students! ANTH 41100 Primate Conservation, 3 credits, TR 2:35, ICC: WI This course explores the distribution, diversity, abundance, and rarity of lemurs, monkeys, and apes. It investigates intrinsic and extrinsic factors affecting primate vulnerability, and how human behavior such as habitat disturbance and hunting impact primate populations. Issues to be discussed include various conservation strategies and tactics employed to protect our closest-living relatives, for example, taxon and area priorities, captive breeding, restocking and reintroduction, and ecotourism.
