Eric Machan Howd (H&S Class of 1990 and Assistant Professor in the Department of Writing) recently placed two of his poems in Europe. One of the poems, "Stuck in the Funhouse," was accepted by British poet Trevor Maynard for an anthology of poems based on the COVID-19 Lockdown. Eric's poem will appear alongside other works from 115 poets from 10 countries. The anthology is available on Amazon (https://amzn.to/35r0Ey5). A second poem, "Lock," was accepted into The Decadent Review for their upcoming issue celebrating the 250th birthday of Ludwig van Beethoven. Upon accepting the work, the publisher has commissioned more poems from Eric and has requested he contributes to the Review's "Meta on Meta" issue, where poets weave creative nonfiction reflections on their work with their poems. Eric is currently working on his contribution to this issue. Look for Eric's work in upcoming issues of this great publication (https://thedecadentreview.com/) out of France. Although Eric teaches professional and technical writing at Ithaca College, he is also an award-winning poet as well as a long-time pianist and pipe organist. He began his studies at Ithaca College as a Music Education major (French Horn), later became one of the College's first Exploratory students, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature (with a Renaissance Literature concentration) and a Minor in Writing. |
