Congratulations to the members of the faculty who have been recognized by the Ithaca College Board of Trustees. At its May meetings, the board awarded promotions to 13 faculty members.
The following faculty members were promoted from associate professor to professor. Criteria for promotion to professor include: evidence of a continued record of teaching excellence, evidence of significant scholarly or appropriate professional attainment, evidence of having attained regional or national stature in the discipline or distinguished academic leadership at the college, and evidence of significant service to the college and profession. Roy H. Park School of Communications Jack Powers, Department of Media Arts, Sciences, and Studies, who earned his B.A. from Mount Union College, M.A. from Ohio State University, and Ph.D. from Syracuse University. James Rada, Department of Journalism, who earned his B.A. and M.S. from San Diego State University, and Ph.D. from the University of Georgia. School of Humanities and Sciences Elizabeth Bleicher, Department of Education, who earned her B.A. from Georgetown University, and her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Southern California. Cory Brown, Department of Writing, who earned his B.A. and M.A. from Oklahoma State University, and his M.F.A. from Cornell University. Cynthia Henderson, Department of Theatre Arts, who earned her B.S. from Troy State University and M.F.A. from Pennsylvania State University. Paula Ioanide, Center for the Study of Culture, Race, and Ethnicity, who earned her B.A. from Swarthmore College and her Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Judith Pena-Shaff, Department of Psychology, who earned her A.S. from Colegio Universitario de Psicopedagogia, B.A. from Universidad Catolica Andres, and M.S. and Ph.D. from Cornell University. Pearl Ponce, Department of History, who earned her B.A. from Pomona College, M.A. from Ohio University, and A.M. and Ph.D. from Harvard University. School of Music One faculty member was promoted from clinical associate professor to clinical professor. School of Health Sciences and Human Performance One faculty member was promoted from assistant to associate professor. Criteria for promotion to associate professor include: a sustained record of teaching excellence, evidence of significant scholarly or appropriate professional attainment, and evidence of service to the college and profession.
