This message is to inform the IC campus community that Sakai will be upgraded to the most recent version, Sakai 20, over the summer. The upgrade is tentatively scheduled for August 11, 2020 and will involve approximately 6-8 hours of downtime. This is an annual upgrade to the system. As more information becomes available, we will continue to provide the campus community with information and timely updates.

Faculty who wish to create a Summer or Fall 2020 course in Sakai should continue to do so. Throughout the summer the IT Teaching and Learning with Technology team will continue to provide support and instructional design in using Sakai.

While Sakai 20 has multiple improvements for instructors and students, here are a few highlights of the improved features available:

  • Expanded Rubric capabilities
  • Streamlined Tests & Quizzes
  • 24-hour assignment reminder for students
  • Added Gradebook features including pop-up Rubric grading and Feedback tool
  • Advanced Statistics tool to see a granular level of student engagement
  • CKEditor templates available including syllabus, conversation, and reply.

Faculty are invited to participate in upcoming training sessions and one-on-one consultations hosted by the IT Teaching & Learning with Technology (TLT) team and the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE). Please watch the Intercom, Sakai Keep Teaching Faculty site, and the TLT website https://ithaca.edu/teaching-and-learning-with-technology for more announcements regarding these events.

To request Sakai support, please contact the Information Technology Service Desk by submitting a Service Request Ticket, via phone (607)274-1000, email: servicedesk@ithaca.edu, or live chat
