Want to get involved before we’re back on campus? The Student Governance Council is looking for students who are interested in joining the Senate prior to fall elections. Read the article to learn more about the process and what positions are open in the Senate! Student Governance Council is looking for students who are interested in joining the Senate prior to fall elections. As we continue to work throughout the summer, we thought it fit to allow those interested to join in on the work we are doing. Who is qualified to be on the Student Governance Council? Any (undergraduate or graduate) student at Ithaca College is allowed to run for a seat on the Student Governance Council.
What Does a Senator Do? As a representative of the student community, senators collaborate with one another to draft recommendations to improve the student experience at Ithaca College. For a more in-depth look at the responsibilities of an SGC senator, please refer to Article IV, Section 5 of the Student Governance Council Constitution which can be found on Engage.
What positions are open for the 2020-2021 academic year? In order to run for a seat on the Student Governance Council, you must be a representative of that seat’s community. For example, in order to be a Class of 2021 Senator, you must be graduating with the class of 2021 (For more information about membership requirements, please refer to Article IV, Section 3 of the Student Governance Council Constitution).
