A New York Times article looking at the coverage of racial bias in the coverage of soccer referenced Rada's work looking at racial bias in television's coverage of collegiate football and basketball.

For the past 25 years, Rada has worked with K. Tim Wulfemeyer from San Diego State University to publish several journal articles, conference papers, and book chapters that show how the on-air talent charged with announcing and covering professional and intercollegiate sports produced racially biased content through their commentary and reporting.  Rada and Wulfemeyer's work has been cited more than 300 times in research that spans a wide range of disciplines, such as: sociology, management, media psychology and cultural/racial/ethnic studies.  In addition, they've been cited in numerous textbooks on how to conduct content-analysis, mass communication theory, and media effects.

In  2019, Rada was interviewed for, and quoted in, the U.S edition of The Guardian for an article looking at racial disparities in television’s coverage of professional football.  In the lead-up to Super Bowl L in 2016, Rada was interviewed twice for his perspective on the coverage of Carolina Panthers Quarterback Cam Newton.  One interview was with USA Today, the other was with TSN 1040/1410 – the Canadian equivalent to ESPN.
