Professionals for Trans Lives: Supporting Your Trans Clients, July 7 at 12 noonContributed by Luca Maurer on 07/02/20 Transgender people experience systemic barriers in every facet of life just because of who they are. Equitable education, employment, housing, healthcare, mental health support, substance treatment and more are all harder to come by for trans folks -- especially low-income trans people of color -- due to systemic transphobia, sexism, racism, ableism, and heterosexism. In this 1-hour live webinar, we invite professionals from every sphere -- especially medical and mental health providers, attorneys and legal professionals, social workers, case managers, and criminal justice professionals -- to learn how to most respectfully and effectively serve transgender, non-binary, and gender-expansive people. Queer trans civil rights attorney Milo Primeaux, Esq. (he/they) will offer foundational best practices for serving trans people, generally, as well as tips for "issue spotting" various challenges your trans clients or patients might be facing so you can connect them to resources they need. RSVP for workshop link Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Luca Maurer at lmaurer@ithaca.edu or (607) 274-7394. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible. |
